Hi there! If you are reading this, welcome to my page and thank you for the support! I thought it was time to jump on the bandwagon and share my experiences of a photographer during my adventures. So, I thought it best to tell how this journey began and tell my stories along the way, because no great photograph ever comes from sitting within the safety of your home.

In the winter of 2011, I moved with my husband to Fairbanks, Alaska by virtue of the military. Now, if you are not familiar with the world of Alaska, winter occurs for basically the majority of the year. So, soon after our arrival I realized I needed a hobby. A hobby to relinquish the stressors of daily life in our fast paced world. A coworker of mine came in one morning with photos of the northern lights and something clicked! I heard my inner voice, if you will, resonate lout and clear: ‘I want to do that.” So I went out and bought my first ‘real’ camera: the Canon Rebel t3. Later on, as with every photographer encounters came additional lenses, bags, gadgets and gizmos. I was hooked. I have always been interested in photography, but this gave me the final push to go for it.

Seeing the northern lights, or the aurora borealis, is awe inspiring and breathtaking. When the auroras are active they dance. Shapes emerge and morph in the dark skies. It is so difficult to describe the impact of seeing beauty of this magnitude. I work and focus on my photos in attempts to capture that beauty for others. Every once in a while, I have to stop and just watch. Sometimes, I yell in glee; sometimes I even cry being so lucky to witness such an event and feeling all the stress ebb out of my mind and body. I think you get the picture. I realized I loved creating the images and sharing them with others. Different vacations brought different photographic opportunities. I love Alaska and all she has to offer creatively. I began to want to take photos of everything I saw as beautiful and wondrous. My love for photography continued, and still continues. My love and appreciation for nature and the wondrous beauty of the world is irretrievable. Thus, Natural Wonders Photography was born.
